Toshiba Junior Squash 2003 attracts Regional Juniors

A record fifty-five junior squash players have signed up for the Toshiba Junior Squash Open scheduled for the weekend at the Barbados Squash Club in Hastings. This event, held every December has grown from strength to strength and this year?s event welcomes the largest contingent of overseas players from five other Caribbean states. Seventeen boys and four girls from Guyana, Trinidad, St Vincent, St Lucia and the British Virgin Islands will compete against thirty four local juniors for top honours in age categories ranging from Under 11 to Under 19.

The Barbados charge will be led by Junior National representatives, the Cumberbatch brothers, Rhett and Bryant, the Ross brothers, Nkosi and Akil, Alex Jordan, Alex Garcia and Jason Cox in the Boy?s events. In the Girls categories, Nadia McCarthy, Cherie Ann Paris, Lea Solomon and Maia Blackman will be main contenders. Bo Harris, the Caribbean Under 15 champion is currently overseas competing in the Canadian Junior Open.

Play begins Friday afternoon at the Barbados Squash Club and continues on Saturday and Sunday. Draws and schedules are posted at the Squash Club.
