At the 26th A.G.M. of the Barbados Squash Rackets Association (BSRA) held on May 30th a new Executive Council was elected for a one year term. The former President, Mr. Craig Archer, did not seek re-election to that position.
The new President, who was elected unopposed, is evangelist Mr. Mylon Wason, an enthusiastic squash player who becomes only the ninth person to be elected to this high office. Wason, who is a keen sportsman and holds a black belt in karate, will have as his Senior Vice-President, Mr. Gavin Cumberbatch, who has returned home after completing his four-year bachelor’s degree in Architecture at Yale University.
The outgoing President, Archer, was elected to the position of Junior Vice President and former junior champion, Mrs. Lilianna White, was elected to the position of Secretary. Mrs. Yvonne Parris was returned to the post of Assistant Secretary and national men’s champion, Mr. Shawn Simpson, a recent UWI graduate in Accounting, is the new Treasurer.
The Council Members returned were Mr. Nigel Griffith and Mr. Marlon White, while Mr. Norman Rice was elected to this position for the first time. The BSRA’s new Junior Representative is Ms. Cheri-Ann Parris, the local under-17 and under-19 champion.
