CASA 2003 Tournament Update

Subject: XIV Mount Gay CASA Squash Championships 2003

The Barbados Squash Rackets Association (BSRA) invites members of the Caribbean Area Squash Association to confirm their participation in the 14th Mount Gay CASA Squash Championships which are scheduled to be held in Barbados from August 20 -31, 2003 (travel dates).

Our tournament schedule is as follows:

August 20 – Teams arrive and Welcome Reception
August 21 to 24 – Individual Championships
August 25 to 28 – Team Championships (Round Robin)
August 29 – Team Semi-Finals
August 30 – Team Finals and Trophy Presentation & Dinner
August 31 – Teams Depart

The date of the General Meeting of CASA will be confirmed in our next update, towards the end of April.

The tournament will be held at the Barbados Squash Club (2 a/c courts + 1 non a/c court) and the Pleasant Place Squash Club (1 a/c court). Entry fees will be (as usual) US$ 250.00 per person [players and officials] and this covers hotel accommodation (triple occupancy) plus two meals per day. All competitors and officials will be accommodated at the Caribbee Hotel which is 5 minutes walk from the BSC. Transportation will be provided between the BSC and PP venues.

Competition will be (as usual) in the following categories: Ladies and Men’s Individual Championships (N.B. A plate will be held for first round losers); Ladies, Men’s and Veteran?s (M+50, M+40, L+40) Team Championships (N.B. The Men’s and Ladies Teams will consist of up to five players and one reserve each. CASA regulations allow for one official to accompany each squad so a full team will comprise (as usual) 6+6+3+1=16 persons).

To assist in our planning could all CASA member territories (i.e. Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman, Guyana; Jamaica; Martinique; OECS; Trinidad and Tobago; Venezuela) please do the following:

1. Immediately confirm receipt of this e-mail.

2. Advise immediately who is the official contact for your squash association (only required for Bermuda and Cayman).

3. Please confirm whether you will be participating in CASA 2003, and in which categories by April 30, 2003. Early replies will be gratefully received!!

4. Please forward with your confirmation one third of the entrance fee for your team. These fees are important for us to use as deposits for the hotel etc. All fees to be remitted in US dollars by either bank draft or travelers cheques. We would prefer no personal cheques since they take five weeks to clear. Please make payable to the ?Barbados Squash Rackets Association?. Our postal address is P.O. Box 387, Bridgetown, Barbados, West Indies. Please advise whether you require an invoice from the BSRA in order to remit your deposit and one will be forwarded to you via e-mail immediately. If you wish to do a wire transfer please advise and we will provide you with our bank account details.

5. ALL PARTICIPANTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING KEY DATES:

6. Championship Director and Championship Referee to be appointed by the BSRA by April 20, 2003.

7. Preliminary timetable and official entry form to be issued by the BSRA by May 20, 2003.

8. Requests for changes to timetable to be received from CASA members by June 20, 2003.

9. Balance of all entrance fees due, plus names of all participants, plus bios and photos due by July 7, 2003.

10. Confirmation of the name of the representative from each territory who will: a) sit on the Championship Panel, and b) will attend the CASA General Meeting required by July 20, 2003.

11. Please remember that in order to participate in CASA XIV all CASA subs must be paid up to date. CASA will advise as to each member?s indebtedness shortly.
