CASA 2003 Results – Individuals – Fri – Day 2 AM

Action began to heat up in the Individual Competition of the Mount Gay Caribbean Area Squash Championships on Friday at the Barbados Squash Club.

In the Men’s competition the top four seeds advanced to the quarterfinals as well as Barbados’ Gavin Cumberbtach. Cumberbatch the lone Bajan remaining in the draw will face the No 1 Seed, Bermuda’s Gary Plumstead.

In the Ladies competition, three Bajan ladies advanced to the quarterfinals slated for the Friday night session. Karen Meakins, seeded No3 will meet fellow Barbadian, Jenny Armstrong while Sonia Perkins will challenge Nicolette Fernandes, the No 2 Seed in the tournament, hailing from Guyana.

Top seed, Marlene West and compatriot, Karen Anderson (No 3 / 4 seed) of Jamaica also advanced with haste to the quaterfinals. Marlene West will opoose Seraphina Johnson of Bahamas while Karen Anderson will meet Rhea Khan of Trinidad.

Matches continue daily at the Barbados squash Club. Finals of the Individual event will be played on Sunday afternoon.
