Day 5 of Senior CASA XVI – Team Competition gets underway

After the excitement of the Individual Competition in the 16th biennial Caribbean Squash Championships the all important team competitions got underway yesterday (Tuesday) at the Liguanea Club in Kingston, Jamaica.

In the Ladies Team competition there are only four teams participating. The defending champions Barbados Ladies Team enjoyed a comfortable work out in the morning by defeating Trinidad and Tobago by five matches to nil with all matches being won in straight games. Jamaica was scheduled to face the OECS in the evening tie in this straight round robin format.

In the Veterans Team competition there are six teams competing in a straight round robin format. Defending champions Barbados easily defeated Guyana by four matches to one with only the over-50 veteran, Leon Truss losing to Alwyn Callender of Guyana. In the other morning match played Cayman defeated Trinidad and Tobago by three matches to two. Jamaica was scheduled to play against the OECS in the evening match later on Tuesday.

The Men’s Team event is being contested by eight teams divided into two pools of four. Pool A

Only one Men’s match was played yesterday morning and Barbados duly crushed the Cayman Islands by five matches to nil, dropping only one game in the process. Three other Men’s matches were scheduled to be played later in the day but results were not available at press time.
