PSA – BTMI Barbados Squash Open 2016

Four (4) Days of Exciting Squash is set to get started come Wednesday 29th June 2016 when the PSA BTMI Barbados Men’s Open Commences at the Barbados Squash Club, Marine Gardens, Christ Church.This event is open to the public at no charge, so we expect that Barbadians will come out in their numbers to watch some of the world’s best Squash professionals.

The 2016 BTMI Barbados Squash Open has attracted professional squash players and friends from eleven (11) countries namely; British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, England, Bermuda, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Malaysia, Guyana, USA and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. All of whom are coming to Barbados to play in this event to improve their respective world ranking, which is based on a points earned structure and to experience the hospitality that Barbados is known for. The tournament has a full draw of 28 players. Qualifying Draw is located here.

Barbados top ranked player in the main draw, is the reigning National champion Shawn Simpson, he has been awarded a wildcard, that’s a place in the main draw. This is Shawn’s first PSA championship and certainly will not be his last, and the same will apply for all the other local players entered in this event.

The first round of qualifying matches will be held at the BSC on Wednesday, June 29th between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. while the final round of qualification will commence at 5:30 p.m. that evening. The eight first round matches in the Main Draw will be played between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday June 30th with the quarter-finals starting at 5:30 p.m. that evening. The two semi-finals will be played one after the other on court #1 and are scheduled for Friday July 1st starting at 5:30pm. The BTMI Barbados Squash Open final will be contested at the BSC on Saturday evening with a 6:00 p.m. start time. The event is free to the general public for all four playing days.
